I subscribe to Andrew Graham's Morning Notes (he's a Managing Director at Bear Stearns). He had a fairly amusing comment regarding the runup in gold prices this year:

Spot gold is higher again this morning to $514.25 oz. Well, that's one commodity that I can cross off of my holiday shopping list. I bet my wife would like a pair of copper earrings this year. After all, copper is the best performing metal in the CRB this year, up roughly 71%! And all the industry needs is a nifty little marketing slogan to catch up with gold. How about; "Copper, the other yellowish/orangie metal"?

"The other yellowish/orange metal"? I think Andrew missed his calling as a standup commedian.
